In the spirit of the season, Unilever Plc alongside the Lagos State Government have felicitated with the first babies of the New Year born in the state hospitals across Lagos.
The babies, numbering four were born at the Lagos Island Maternity, Gbagada General hospital and Ikorodu General Hospital and presented with Pears range of baby products in addition to a cash gift of N100,000.
The first two babies, a set of twins (girl and boy) were given birth to at Ikorodu General Hospital at 12.23am and weighed 2.9 kilogrammes and 3.2kg respectively.
In General Hospital, Gbagada, a baby boy, weighing 3.36kg was delivered at 12.05am while the first baby at the Lagos Island Maternity, was born at 12.05am and weighed 3.3kg.
Congratulating the families of the new babies, First Lady of Lagos State, Mrs. Bolanle Ambode, expressed delight at the safe delivery of the babies and encouraged all mothers across the state not to deny their babies of routine immunisation that is needed for their healthy growth.
“Just like the New Year, the birth of a new baby brings joy to every home and family. As parents, we need to sustain this joy by giving the children adequate care especially in immunisation.
This is one of the ways we can help them to grow up and become healthy and happy children that we will all be proud of,” she said.
In her remark, Category Manager, Skincare, Unilever Nigeria Plc, Mrs. Adetoun Adegbite commended the Lagos State Government for sustaining the ‘First baby of the year’ initiative.
She said, “Our partnership with the First Lady of Lagos State is in line with our commitment to achieve our vision of making sustainable living commonplace. Children are the future of any nation. Supporting their families with our products to take care of them at this tender age, puts them on the right path of healthy growth and development.”
The joy of the visit was full of pleasant surprises with the presentation of pears products and cash gifts to the families of the newborn babies.
